Settings
The Settings page controls how emails are received, how failures are evaluated, and how BackupMonitor notifies you and your helpdesk.
Click Save Settings at the top after making changes.
Inbound address
Your unique email address for receiving backup notifications. Copy it here and configure your backup software or mail forwarding to send status emails to this address.
Backup Summary Reports
Receive a recurring email listing all currently failing backups. Sent to your account contact email on the weekdays you select (Mon–Sun). Useful as a daily or weekly digest for teams that do not log into the dashboard every day.
Report timing uses your configured timezone.
Ticket System Integration
When a backup job fails, BackupMonitor can forward the failing email to your helpdesk address (e.g. your PSA or ticketing system inbox).
Set the helpdesk email and the time of day when notifications should be sent. Failed jobs are collected and forwarded once per day at that time, rather than immediately on each failure.
Backup Evaluation
These options control how statuses are calculated:
- Hide successful devices in Call To Action — once any job on a device succeeds, the device is removed from the Call to Action queue even if other jobs are still failing
- Mark the entire day as failed if any backup failed — a single failed job on a device turns the whole day's aggregate status to failed (when disabled, other jobs can still show green on the same day)
- Default grace period for new jobs — how many days a newly discovered job may report errors before counting as failed. Individual jobs can override this in the job editor.
Timezone
Used to interpret backup timestamps from emails and to schedule daily summary reports and helpdesk notifications. Choose the timezone that matches where your backups run.
AI Email Classification
Optional opt-in: when an email does not match any built-in parser, BackupMonitor can send it to AI (Google Gemini) for classification and routing. Enable this if you receive emails from unsupported or custom backup tools.
Emails that still cannot be classified end up in Processing Errors. You can review what data is sent to AI in the in-app info dialog before enabling.
Account cancellation
The danger zone at the bottom of Settings lets you cancel your subscription and request account deletion. This permanently removes your account and all backup history and cannot be undone.
